Peracetic Acid 1kg. Disinfectant solution, ready for use. A jar contains 1kg of powder.

Characteristics and physical-chemical properties:

Water soluble powder suitable for high level disinfection and decontamination of medical devices in hospitals and surgeries. Dispersed in warm water, the powder produces a chemical and physical equilibrium that leads to the formation of peracetic acid with germicidal high potential. It can be applied as a cleanser and as a high level disinfectant. Promoting the removal of organic residues present on the instruments, allows in general to eliminate the manual cleaning protecting the staff from the risk of cross contamination and infection. Perfect to be used on rubber, glass, porcelain, can be used on all metals except nickel, aluminium, galvanized and chromed iron. Does not cause corrosion and can be used in ultrasonic tanks.

Appearance: solid, fine powder
Colour: whitely
Odour: characteristic smell, organic
PH (1%p/v in distilled water): 8,5 ± 0,5
Inflammable: not inflammable
Water solubility: completely miscible

Range of action:

Peracetic acid inhibits and destroys bacteria, Gram + and Gram-, fungi and mould in a few minutes and at extremely low concentrations. For the action on viruses you should consider that the concentration limits, and the contact times as well, may be different depending on the virus. We pass from disinfecting fungi with a concentration of 12 to 30ppm (contact time 5 minutes) to enteric viruses which need a concentration of 2000ppm and a contact time of 10 to 20 minutes. Peracetic acid is also active in the presence of organic substances, and this is one of the characteristics that makes the use of this product really advantageously. Another pro is that it is active even at low temperatures. The influence of pH on the activity of the product is irrelevant in the range from 5 to 7. As it is a weak acid, a higher dissociation of the solution upgrades its activity. The work of many researchers has always shown that peracetic acid is superior to any other disinfectants, in view of active concentration and contact time needed for disinfection.

Fields of use:

Water soluble powder suitable for high level disinfection and decontamination of medical devices in hospitals, surgeries and dental labs.

Instructions:

Hospitals, surgeries and dental labs use an aqueous solution of 0.5l and 2%. After adding the powder to the water, stir gently. A part of the product will remain undissolved on the base of the recipient. This reserve allows to maintain a stable peracetic acid concentration and to ensure an active concentration for 8-12 hours.
Decontaminiation and cleaning (0.5% solution): Mix 5g of powder with 1 litre of water (temperature 25-30°C) to obtain a 0.5% solution. Contact time: 30 minutes, rinse after soaking.
Decontamination and primary disinfection: Mix 10 g of powder with 1 litre of water (temperature 25-30°C) to obtain a 1% solution. Contact time: 10 minutes, rinse after soaking.
High level disinfection and sterilisation (2% solution): Mix 20g of powder with 1 litre of water (temperature 25-30°C) to obtain a 2% solution. Contact time: 30 minutes, rinse after soaking.
When used in equipment, follow manufacture’s instructions.

Storage:

Store the original packing in a cool, clean and dry place. Keep away from heat and direct solar radiation. The unopened product has a shelf life of 36 months if stored properly. The aqueous solution, once mixed as indicated, is active for 8-12 hours, after that period the peracetic acid disintegrates into acetic acid, water and oxygen.
